“I am a curious person. The fulfilling and wonderful moments of my life begin when a rock is overturned and a hundred pairs of scuttling legs dart insect owners down secret holes, when attic boxes yawn open in a cloud of prehistoric dust or when a speck of flashing amber is won out of an old clay digging pit. Discovery has become the first and most important part of my process, and so I collect all manner of unique creatures, fossils, insects, shells, tools and the like, which provide the inspiration and materials for much of my work.”
